haha...

This German surname of QUAST is of two-fold origin. It was a locational name meaning 'one who came from QUAST' (the place overgrown with twigs) the name of two places in Germany; it was also an occupational name, one who worked at the baths with twig. The name is also spelt QUASTEL, QUASTLE and QUASTLER.

This is what happens when I get bored at work...I google the origins of my last name.

Pretty good weekend.

Well it certainly has been a long one anyways with being sick and all...Friday night I had a retreat for my sorority from six to ten. It was so much fun being able to hang out with my pledge class and get to know everyone!! Afterwards a few of us went to check out the homecoming dance, then we went back to the dorms to go get ready. Lucy, Danica, Madi, Emilee, Chanel, Chandell, Lyndsy, and I went to the dance for about thirty minutes, then headed over to True Aggie Night. No worries...I'm still not a true aggie haha. We were there til about one, then went to a fraternity party for about forty five minutes. Lyndsy and I were so tired that we just laid on the couch and basically almost fell asleep!! So we just came home and went to bed and basically slept until noon yesterday. Yesterday was the homecoming game!! So once we finally got up and got ready, we went down to the stadium parking lot and hit up some tailgate parties!! And we ate a lot of food...but story of our lives. The game was pretty fun!! We went with a group of my sorority sisters and then just a group of guy friends that we have. And we actually won the game! It was 51-34 I believe. We left when there was about a minute and a half left so i doubt the score changed in that time. It was a nice change from last year though when my team never won!
After the game we came home and got ready for the White Out dance. It was so much fun!! We were definately more in the dancing mood tonight than we were on friday night!! So after the dance Madi, Chanel, and I came back to the dorms and hung out for a little bit. We drove back and Lyndsy walked with some other friends so we waited for them to come. Then Chanel, Lyndsy, and all the other friends went an played outside for a little bit, but Madi and I just stayed in my room and talked, and I cleaned my room haha. Finally around one thirty I was exhausted so Madi left. Well I walked her out to her car because it was late and it gets kind of scary that late at night outside, so we got to her car and there were these three guys walked through the parking lot and Madi was like I'm going to drive you up to the door so you don't have to walk by them. But as they got nearer to us I realized that they were my friends Cole, Mitch, and Parker!! So i got out of the car and walked with them back to the dorms and we talked for a little bit, and then started to head back to my room. I was almost to the doors when they yelled my name and said come back, so i went back and they asked if i wanted to watch a movie with them, and that Chanel and Lyndsy were coming too. Of course I said yes...because who sleeps in college? So we tried to watch the movie on a laptop in the study room in their dorms, but Parker said we couldn't get the full affect, so we went to the basement of our tower and watched the movie. Oh we watched Quarantine, by the way. Probably the most twisted movie I've ever seen in my life. Parker kept falling asleep during it, but then the movie ended and us girls were still really awake, so we put in the Hannah Montana Movie (this was at like four in the morning by the way) and then all three of the boys fell asleep haha. So we woke them up and told them to go home. then Chanel wanted to go get her phone charger from the Kappa Delta house, so we drove over there so she could get it, then we all came home and went to sleep, at like five in the morning haha. We have some friends that said they would make us breakfast today and some point, but we still haven't heard from them. I bet they are still sleeping haha. And thats about it for my weekend...nothing to exciting really! New pictures should be showing up in my slideshow from the game yesterday!

homesickness.

I was going to tell you the whole story about my homesickness, but then it just seems like I want sympathy...and thats not what I'm going for. haha. basically i just really miss my family a lot, and i just miss the little things...like anthony singing, which is weird haha. But in attempt to cure some of my homesickness, I'm going to Idaho Falls this weekend!! I can't wait! Wow this is like my shortest blog post ever. hm.

I finally feel a little caught up!!

I have done like three homework assignments today, plus I took two of the six tests that are required to graduate!! Woohoo!! I probably could do some other things right now, but I work for five hours tonight so I might as well wait!! This week has been pretty great so far! Friday afternoon I made it into Kappa Delta Sorority and I am so excited!! We had a pool party that night, then went and saw sorority row! It was so scary! Saturday morning we had first degree for the sorority, and i got my first degree pin!! Saturday night I saw The Hangover with my friend Derek, then on Sunday, Grandma Curtis, Grandma Quast, and Aunt Dar came up and we went to lunch and i showed them around campus. It was so nice of them to come visit me, and it was helpful because I have been missing home a lot lately. Lets see, after they left Lyndsy came home, and we went to dinner at Jennica's aunt's house. Home cooked meals are the BEST! Haha. Monday I worked, had Spanish, and then that night we had an All-Greek meeting. I'm so excited to be in KD this year and to get involved! They've got some great stuff planned!! It rained a lot on monday, so I just stayed home and studied. and gossip girl started monday night!!!! Lyndsy and I hung out for a little bit, then she left for her volleyball game and I hung out with Derek for a while! Yesterday was suuuuch a long day! I had class from 9:00 until 4:15, then Lyndsy and I went to go get colored streaks in our hair! But I didn't get mine because the lady was out of purple!! She was kind of flaky actually. We went in last tuesday, showed her what colors we wanted, and she said it was only going to be three dollars per strand. Well so first she was out of my color, then second she charged Lyndsy twenty five dollars! ahh!! But after that little adventure Lyndsy and I went to pick up Lucy and Danica, and we went and volunteered at the Whittier Center Playground! It is going to be a playground that is handicap accessible and open to anyone of all ages! We were there for about two and a half hours, but I plan on going back again either friday or saturday since Lyndsy is going to Provo! After that we all went to village inn, then Lyndsy and I went tanning! (I've been like four times and I'm still soooo white!!) Lyndsy is currently asleep on my floor...haha she planned on doing math homework while I did my Spanish homework but that obviously didn't work out...I'm going to figure out how to add pictures now! Love and miss everyone!!

12:21 am on a school night?? what the.

This weekend was kind of a drag...Lyndsy and I were supposed to go home, but then she was going to camping. As predicted, her camping plans fell through so we just hung out (bored) in Logan all weekend. Friday night I went to a birthday party of a girl that is in the sorority I'm rushing. I definately would qualify that as my first real college party...but it wasn't that great actually. So I was there for about an hour and a half, then left to go to True Aggie Night!! No worries...I'm still not a true aggie =] That night was rough though. I had seriously gotten my hopes up to go home and surprise everyone at the Rocky football game (which they won, by the way!!) so I was really missing everyone. Saturday morning Lyndsy and I got up about noon, then tried to find something to do the rest of the day. After a long hour of trying to decide, we ended up going tanning with our free tanning coupons...haha. Then we came home and just hung out for a bit, then went to dinner. After dinner we went and rented Haunting in Connecticut from Redbox, and texted a whole bunch of people to have them come watch it with us! Well no one ended up texting us back, so we went to a bonfire with one of Lyndsy's friends instead. Her friend's friend was driving, which was fine, I felt totally comfortable. Until we got to the bonfire and the alcohol showed up...and he started drinking...so then we were basically having a crisis, but Lyndsy's friend was totally cool about it and offered to drive home, but instead we rode home with some other guys that had not been drinking at all. In fact I'm pretty sure they were at the bonfire for about ten minutes, decided it was lame, and wanted to leave. haha. We met a girl named Hazel at the bonfire, and she actually lives in our building, so us three came home and watched Haunting in Connecticut. Well we tried to watch it in the basement of our tower, but we couldn't get the tv to work. And there were three guys with us that live in the man tower, so we just went over there instead. I love that movie so much!! So we got done with the movie around 2, then went to bed. (I'm pretty sure none of you care when I give you the rundown of my entire weekend, but I'm not tired yet so I'm going to keep going =]) Yesterday we got up, I did some homework, and we went to dinner before I had to go to work at six. There was NOBODY in the library practically the whole time, like I'm pretty sure I helped only three people last night. But my friend Kelcie and Bryce, the guy from my first college date, came and talked to me for a bit. After work, at midnight, Lyndsy and I went to Mcdonalds! Haha I am not even going to say what we ate or how much we spent. But it was great! Then we went to Jason's apartment, and he wanted to watch Haunting in Connecticut, so we went to Redbox again (he paid this time mom, don't worry) and came back to his place and watched it....haha we started it at about two in the morning!! But I fell asleep!!!! I was so mad because I wanted to get scared, but I fell asleep. dang it. so anyways I woke up at four when the movie ended, then Lyndsy and I came home and she spent the night in my room. Well this morning we woke up at noon....but stayed in bed til two because she fell back asleep. When we finally got up, we went and worked out for a little bit, then just got ready for the...day? Haha. Then we went to dinner, and I went to hang out with my Kelcie. We took pictures!! Then we went to walmart so she could print some, and then we went back to the Kappa Delta house and started watching Resident Evil...I can't say that I am in love with that movie...not at all actually. So I left. I came home and did some laundry and read part of my book for U.S. Institutions. I was supposed to study with a friend from Spanish, but he got caught up in football and by the time he realized, it was ten haha. So we are studying tomorrow night after rush!! I am so excited for rush! I feel a little nervous, but I can't wait! Well I have to get up in about six and a half hours...so I guess I should sleep...but I will post pictures from today, and other pictures Lyndsy and I have taken!

i'm so terrible at this....

It's hard for me to remember to update my blog!! Ahh!! Ha so right now I am at work...updating my blog...but i love my job because no one ever comes up here so I basically sit around for five hours and play on facebook or do homework, mostly it's homework actually. It's nice because I can procrastinate doing my work until I go to work, then just do it here!! College is pretty great so far. I love all my classes, and have finally made some friends!! I turned in my first few assignments Wednesday night and got 100% on two of them, the third has yet to be graded. Of course they are just very easy assignments, not really the nitty gritty stuff. As mom mentioned I had my first college date on Tuesday. We went to Chili's for dinner, then went on a walk, and watched two movies. Ha i love not having a curfew, I didn't go home until two in the morning!! So the date was successful I guess, I'm sure it won't lead to anything, but that's fine...just keeping my options open. =]
Let's see...last night was college night at Club New York. It was so much fun!! I went last week too but since I finally have a best friend here, last night was much more fun than the first time! I never would have thought there would be a dance club in Logan, Utah...haha. Lyndsy and I have had all sorts of crazy adventures in the last week and a half!! I actually went to middle school with Lyndsy for two years, but we never talked or hung out. Then last Tuesday I was standing in line for lunch, and we just started talking! And we've basically been inseparable every since! Also I'm pretty sure this friendship was just meant to be...we both love chocolate milk, dancing, mcdonalds, boys....haha just kidding. But I'm just so excited I finally made a friend!
I was planning on going home today after spanish, but Lyndsy decided to go camping with some friends maybe, and I don't want to drive alone, so I'm just staying here!! Not sure what I'm going to do...True Aggie Night is tonight, and there is a Rags to Riches party at the Kappa Delta house. Oh...also I am rushing for a sorority!! Rush week starts Tuesday and I'm way excited!! I started hanging out with the sorority girls after some of my "friends" I had been hanging out with just decided to ditch out on me...but not a big deal! I'm super stoked. But anyways yes...I don't know what I'm doing this weekend, I just know I'm excited to not have work or class on monday! I should probably go do something work-related now. Hope everyone is doing well!

so i guess mom is right....as always. I should update this for everyone!! I've been here for about a week now, and my freshman orientation class just ended today. We basically just talked about the school policies and campus resources...pretty lame. But wednesday night there was a carnival thing and a dance!! It was so much fun!! Tuesday night Tim Gabrielson, a magician/comedian came and did a show for us, hahaha he was hilarious! Last night i was supposed to go to salt lake with a few friends, but that didn't end up working out, so i hung out with a girl named Sam from a sorority!

Life in Logan is pretty good. Everything is so pretty here, and the weather is alright i guess. Freeeeezing cold in the morning and then its like burning hot in the afternoon!! Thus far I have like no friends. I know some kids from eagle that are here, but they are the ones that ditched me last night! So i'm gonna find new ones. I met a girl named Jessica during this past week, but she lives kind of far away from my dorm. I haven't really met any girls on my floor because everyone else already has friends and is always gone. But not a big deal! Because I think i'm going to do recruitment week for a sorority, then i will make friends!! I can't wait for classes to start on monday!!! I'll post some pictures i took of my dorm!!

I'm finally 18....weird

So yesterday was my birthday. I can't believe I'm finally 18!! We opened presents early yesterday morning before school. Haha it took Dad a little bit to get out of bed, and that was with Adrian's help. I got a new laptop (thanks mom and dad!) and a printer to go along with it. I also got a gift card to the mall, the movie "The Secret Life of Bees" and a money belt for when I go to Spain. Then I had to go to school. ugh. school wasn't bad though. My friends and I came to our house for lunch and ate tacos and cookies. After school I had cheer practice, and then after that I had to sing for the eighth grade open house. Jennica and I left straight from there and met the fam at Red Robin. mmm bbq chicken wraps!! haha. We came home after that watched Dimitri Marten on youtube....haha funniest thing of my entire life probably. Then Kyle came over and we hung out for a little bit and I blew out the candles on my brownies...ha I didn't want a cake. But we were all too full from dinner to eat any dessert...pretty sure I've never passed up dessert haha.

But yea....this is my first post so we'll see how it goes from here. So far this post has been pretty lame so sorry everyone who reads it, but oh well!! xoxo
